Elfentanz Sonja - 67 31t - 16 June 1994

Elfentanz Sonja joined our household and her sister Elfentanz Marit in November 1994. Sonja is a brown classic tabby and white and was born on June 16th 1994. Sonja was shown a couple of times, once before she had her kittens, when she obtained her 2nd Merit (she got her 1st Merit at a Show in Scotland where she was shown by her breeder) Once the girls had got used to each other again, Sonja and Marit were inseperable. Sonja started "calling" at the tender age of 7 months. As she "called" every 2/3 weeks she was taken to stud at Easter 95. Sonja visited Kyrrekatt Kimberley Hvit an orange eyed white who was bred by and at the time lived with Eileen and Brian Hancock in Devon. The result of the mating was known on the 17th of June 1995 when 5 kittens were born. At first I believed the whole litter to be boys. (This was my very first litter of any breed of cat, let alone NFC). The end result though was four boys, two of which were white, like their dad, two were brown classic tabby and white like their mum. There was also one girl in the litter, and she was white too.

The litter turned out to be:

1 * Klatringkatt Thorald - 67 14a - His name is Scandinavian in origin and means "Thor's Ruler".

2 * Klatringkatt Madame Mani - 67 14a - Mani is a Norse Mythological name for the moon, and Madame probably speaks for itself. Mani stayed with us.

3 * Klatringkatt Skerry - 67 31t - His name is Scandinavian in origin and means "From the rocky island".

4 * Klatringkatt Tormey - 67 31t - His name is Gaelic in origin and means "Thunder spirit".

5 * Klatringkatt Dagwood - 67 14a - His name is Anglo Saxon in origin and means "Forest of the shining one". Dagwood stayed with us.

* All registered names on this site that include the prefix Klatringkatt are the copyright of Mrs Vanda Clunas.

Although Sonja brought the kittens up well, she did not really enjoy it very much, she was probably too young; Her sister Marit was much more attentive of the kittens. So Elfentanz Sonja was spayed.

Sonja is still a very contented cat at home and loves all the attention she can get.
